We live in a society in which the notions of ‘happiness’ are routinely imposed upon individuals, whether this be via advertising, social media, peer groups, family, religion, or other institutional means. ‘Explain Happiness’ reflects upon and explores the complex, ephemeral nature of the true emotion of happiness. The short documentary poses a series of questions upon individuals from all different generations. It analyzes what happiness means from different points in someone’s life. It explores the response of each question within different generations.
